Clarification:for Pioneer drives, it the booktype written to discs cannot be changed using ImgBurn. Also, there’s not been a tool to support it from Pioneer, and it doesn’t appear that there is a command available in any of the usual tools to set it. Instead, the firmware has all control over what booktype is written to disc. Therefore, I say that to have an SL disc booktyped to -ROM you have to patch the firmware which is the casethere is simply no other option in this scenario. And upon changing the option inside MCSE, the drive will burn discs with bitsetting. Your discs will now be bitset as DVD-ROM. There is no need to change anything elsejust burn. And to burn discs without bitsetting so that DVD+R discs are booktyped as DVD+R discs again, a return to normal firmware defined as a firmware without that option enabled in MCSE is required. QUOTE=dougstrach;2139408I love the MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool, but need an added feature or the ability to modify the following firmware. This firmware allows the drawer to be extended a few millimeters beyond the standard eject distance and is very useful to automated CD loaders. Is there anyway to add a feature in MCSE to extend the drawer eject distance?/QUOTEI doubt that firmware can eject the tray more than usual on Pioneer drives.
To quote Coaster from, commenting a post claiming the same. QUOTE=Auzzie Kid;2125817could u please leave the ripping speed of DVD+R DL untouched at 12X and only increase the ripping speed of DVD-/+R and DVD-/+RW media?/QUOTEala42,I second Auzzie Kid’s request. I have a DVR-116D that I flashed to 1.06 firmware that I modified with your bitsetting and read speed patch and have experienced the following:.Approximately one-third of the time, I can actually read both layers at 16X max as you intended.Two-thirds of the time, the first layer will either read up to 16X or will drop off at 12X, and then the second layer begins reading at 8X and drops from there.Lastly, and most serious, I was ripping a pressed DVD to hard drive today and I could hear it speeding up and slowing to a halt, back and forth, with a total estimate of almost 30 minutes to rip. About 75% of th way into the rip I hard a crashing sound so loud, I figured something fell on the floor, but realized that it was my new DVR-116D drive! I quickly shut it down and tried again with the same result. I then put on my old DVR-112 drive that had also been patched with your bitsetting and read speed (12X max on DL) patches, and that read it smootly from beginning to end.I’m hesitant to put any discs in the 116 drive, as I assume the read and/or record head has been knocked out of alignment. After hearing the awful crash (it wasn’t just a click, but amost sounded liek cymbals crashing togther), I cannot imagine the drive is OK.
It appears that the attempt to read at 16X can have disasterous effects on some pressed DVDs, at least! So, please slow the read speed back down to 12X max for DL media and pressed DVDs, or atleast provide an option to allow the user to choose.Regards and thanks,Ford Man. Hi ala42,this is awsome work!I found this thread just a couple of days ago and I’m impressed.I’m an owner of an Pioneer K06 Slot-in Burner wich I use for my Laptop. This type of drive is also used in nearly all Mac minis. It seems to be one of the few drives not to be supported by your tool (K05 Slot-in is supported though).I tried the latest version of your tool on a stock firmware as well as on a rpc1-modded firmware, but there was no luck.I get the error “The input file is just supported in read only mode, changes can not be saved”.
Afaik this could be due to a checksum failure Loading the FW allows to mark the Read speed to “increase” but the File cannot be saved. So I assume there is a riplock left inside the FW.However one cannot mark RPC1 patch but this should be no problem as there is already a RPC1-FW from TDB!? (Correct me if I’m wrong). The Flasher itself (UPK06OEX.exe) can be patched (allow same to same flashing) and loading FW works also.Could you have a look at this issue please? There are some problems with DVD+R media wich is burned at 2x instead fo 8x and getting rid of the riplock would be fantastic THX a lot!jojo2Stock FW 1.05 can be found here:RPC1 FW 1.05 can be found here:All other RPC1 FW’s here:A diskussion on this drive can be found here.
